Vector artwork and embroidery digitizing solve different production problems.

A vector file describes shapes and paths. A machine embroidery file contains stitch instructions. One is not a substitute for the other.

If your shop needs both print artwork and embroidery files, include both outputs in the inquiry so the deliverables are clear.

slide-01.png Vector & stitches. Different jobs.. Choose the handoff for the output. A full photograph of embroidery illustrates the topic. slide-02.png VECTOR ARTWORK DESCRIBES SHAPES. Paths and curves can be resized and prepared for uses such as print, signage and cutting. The output process may need its own separations or preparation. slide-03.png DIGITIZING PLANS THE STITCHES. Embroidery needs stitch types, direction, sequence, support and settings suited to the job. A clean vector file is useful source artwork. It is not a machine stitch file. slide-04.png TELL US THE NEXT STEP. Print / cut: Describe the output process and file needed. Embroidery: Include size, fabric, placement and machine. Both: Ask for the two deliverables separately. The photographed embroidery is an example of the finished medium. Brief the result you need.
